Vestibular Yoga Therapy (VYT) is a gentle training program designed to enhance your balance, coordination and flexibility through yoga-derived postures and breathing techniques combined with eye movements. VYT is designed to be especially helpful for individuals who suffer from vestibular stress or are recovering from vestibular damage due to accidents, aging, or other issues. VYT will enhance your central nervous system’s capacity to compensate for inner ear and functional deficits that lead to balance disorders. VYT promotes an increase in sensory function and fine motor skills.
By combining optical nerve retraining, peripheral vision exercises, along with yoga poses that emphasize strengthening and alignment, VYT improves neuromuscular coordination while restoring your inner and outer balance through focus on your body awareness. Improvements are gained through through the alignment of multiple systems in the body to include musculoskeletal, respiratory, and circulatory system.
Training sessions are focused on educating participants with a compassionate personal understanding of their individual strengths and weaknesses with the goal of improving their ability to move with confidence and safety as they undertake day-to-day tasks.
